Safe Neighborhood Committee Report: (provided by Sandy) BSNC reports the following information from the minutes of their meeting:
There has been an increase of robberies citywide. Crime prevention tips: There are three elements of a crime, location, criminal and victim. The element within our control is being careful about location. Be careful by not going into unsafe locations. Thirty years ago half of the homicides were domestic violence. There has been a significant decrease in this type of crime because there are resources for women. The bulk of homicides now result from fights , drugs or drug territory disputes, or gang-related revenge killings. In 2008 there were eight homicides, half of the cases are not solved and involve gang life style.
