What they do-----
In the event of an emergency the need for a trained community emergency response team to take initial steps to assist victims is essential. CERT training is designed to help you protect yourself, your family, your neighbors and your neighborhood in an emergency situation and to provide assistance to first responders.
During a large-scale disaster, the response of any community’s emergency services may be delayed or overwhelmed for a variety of reasons. This leaves the citizens of the community-family, neighbors, and coworkers—to provide for their own well-being and safety until professional responders arrive.
Other things the team would do is …..
Identifying residents, especially those with physical impairments or other special needs, acting to calm our neighbors during any such episode, assisting with evacuation when necessary, educating the residents for disaster preparedness, and enhancing first responders, assisting with traffic and crowd control when necessary.
