I am wondering if there has ever been discussion about installing a basketball court near the rec center. It would provide a wonderful opportunity for the youth (and adults) in our neighborhood to get out of the house, socialize, and get some physical activity. I realize individual homeowners can install permanent basketball hoops, however they must be installed alongside the driveway, which is not an optimum place to play - it is slanted on a diagnal, is too small, and runaway balls tend to hit the garage door or land in yours or your neighbors landscape (and basketballs and cactus do not get along well). Any thoughts?

No Basketball Courts
I love basketball - I even coach high school basketball. But, it would be a terrible mistake to build a basketball court in our community.
The hiking trails alone offer plenty of opportunities to get out of the house for physical activity. A basketball court would be expensive and there is not really ample space for one near the rec center.
But, MOST OF ALL, a basketball court - the look, the noise, and the lights - do not align with the natural beauty of our neighborhood.

Basketball Court
There are nice courts at the Gold Canyon Elementary School. I know several youths who go there on a regular basis....it is just a short bicycle ride.

no no no
Let's not install anything like that. I never play basketball and certainly do not want to pay for you to play. Our association already jacks up the rates to pay for what we already have. No basketball courts, and for God's sake NO lights!
