NEEDLE EXCHANGE PT IV (Aug 25, 02)

SITE SELECTION (Aug 13, 02)

-
A caravan of persons interested in reviewing and choosing a needle exchange site is planned for Saturday, August 24, 2002. Please meet at the Family Service Center, 3544 30th Street (near Upas) at 10:00aM. The plan is to tour the exchange vehicle first then visit several places in Corridor and Teralta to see whether any of them is suitable for needle exchange. The tour and visits are expected to take about two hours. A long caravan doesn't work as well as a short caravan, so carpooling is urged. Bring a notebook to keep track of sites.

THREE SITES VISITED (Aug 25, 02)

-
On Saturday, August 24, Kathy Evans-Calderwood, Rick de Hoyos, Mark Kassab, Peter Lual, Charlie Powell, Jessie and Bob Sergent, Patty Vaccariello, Howard Westney, and I visited three sites that the needle exchange mobile van might work in.
-
One is at 40th Street near where it intersects Myrtle Street, another is alongside Central Avenue near the East end of the footbridge over to Park de la Cruz, and the third is at the community clinic on 43rd Street at Polk Avenue. You should visit the sites if you can. Also, please feel free to call me or any of the others who visited the sites if we can provide information about what we saw.
-
I expect a second round of visits to take place on the 7th or 14th or 21st of September, and there might be a third round of visits. I'll post the information on this website when I get it.
