CONGRATULATIONS!!

The Mayor has named Ms. Atkins to be the City's Deputy Mayor.

She will be heavily involved in ceremonial activities, of course. That's the nature of the Mayor's and Deputy Mayor's jobs. She will also chair the City Council meetings and Rules Committee meetings whenever the mayor is away, and I expect she will have some additional travel duties representing the City in Sacramento and elsewhere. She will have to shoehorn half a dozen new duties into a schedule that already has no empty space in it.
