A Mountain Community

IT'S JUST ONE OF THOSE TUCSON THINGS

Jun 06, 2005

Summer is here so we would like to remind folks to check
on the senior citizens that live around you and make sure
they are ok and they have sufficient cooling for their home.
If not, either take the initiative to help, or call Pima Council
on Aging for info as to who can help. 790-7262

Other important info for folks who just moved to the Old
Pueblo and the A Mountain Community.

1. Exercise and get your outside chores done early in the
morning or late afternoon during the dusk hours.

2. Always carry plenty of drinking water, whether you are
exercising, or driving around in the city.

3. Use sunscreen when outside. Arizona is a skin cancer
capital due to the intense rays.

4. NEVER leave your child unattended near a swimming
pool, NEVER leave your child OR your pet in the car
unattended. Temperatures in vehicles can exceed 160
degrees in a short period of time. Your child or pet can die
within a matter of minutes.

5. If going for a day hike on some of Tucson?’s fantastic trails
and canyons, ALWAYS tell someone where you are going
and when you expect to return, take your cell phone with
you, it could save your life.

6. Watch your step! Summertime, snakes are out in force.
Sometimes in your own back yard! Call your local Fire
Department unit for assistance in removal of snakes from
your yard.

7. Water your landscape during very early morning or during
dusk hours for best use to the plants. Use soaker hoses for
water conservation

8. Wear a hat to shade your head and sunglasses to protect
your eyes from the glaring sun.
