Prior Activities: Established a relationship with Michael Langford (City of Atlanta`s Mayors Office) to find solutions to combat crime and create improved living conditions for the Adair Park Community. This led to meeting with Raines Carter, Solicitor, City of Atlanta. In these meetings all heads of city government are in attendance(Fire, Police, Code Enforcement, ect..) They provide progress reports on the various activities in our community.

1. A group of like minded Adair Park residents hold several meetings to discuss the possibility of forming a community based organization to focus on addressing and solving the immediate problems facing the Adair Park Community.

1. September 1998 The Adair Park Community Empowerment Assoc. holds it's first meeting at Christ Full of Grace and Truth Baptist Church.
2. The APCE nominates and elects its officers, Board of Directors, and Advisors.
3. The Committees are formed (Crime Prevention, Community Concerns, Code Enforcement / Community Redevelopment) and Committee Chairs are elected.
4. September- Organize and conduct a Community March against Drugs and Prostitution in conjunction with the City of Atlanta Police Department (Zone 3 mini-precinct).
5. October-Start a home building project with Atlanta Habitat For Humanity (this project reclaimed vacant, overgrown, grossly neglected lots in the community and provided 16 new homes for persons / families of moderate-low incomes) this is an ongoing project.
6. Safe Night (an alternative to Halloween) was started for the children and youth of Adair Park and surrounding communities (150 children participated).
7. November- APCE sponsors a Feed The Less Fortunate Thanksgiving Dinner (150-200 persons participated)
8. November- Delivered Thanksgiving Baskets-ongoing
9. Toys for Tots / APCE- Christmas Party for neighborhood Children (150-200 children participated)-ongoing
10. Neighborhood outing/hospitality-Tickets for Kids Program-ongoing
11. Boys and Girls club meetings-ongoining
12. Distribute Monthly neighborhood flyers (concerning community meetings, events, ect..)
13. Partner with The Urban Training of Atlanta for community service and technical support
14. Monthly Community Clean-ups
15. CHD awards grant for Youth Lawn Care Program ($1,000.00)

1. Start collaborating with the Atlanta City Council President Robb Pitts`s office and conducting Town Hall Meetings and follow-ups to access the progress in rebuilding / reclaiming Adair Park.
2. Partner with The Urban Insurance Partnership to rehab. Senior Citizens Homes (Adair Park Community)
3. Partner with Hands On Atlanta for various Community Projects- ongoing

7. Work with real estate developers to refurbish dilapidated homes/buildings for sale to homeowners.

7. Welcome To Adair Park signs are placed in Adair Park II (facing Murphy Ave.), in Robert Taylor`s yard, and corner of University Ave. and Metropolitan Parkway (Capitol View Apts.)

8. Adair Park Charter School Established.
9. State Senator Vincent Fort Donated $500.00 to The Adair Park Youth Lawn Care Program.

1. April 29- APCE partners with The Epstein School for a community clean-up
2. Representation on the Atlanta Healthy Start Initiative (refunded for over $150,000.00)-ongoing
3. Service Juris Day (The Atlanta Legal Community / Hands on Atlanta, APCE) landscaped Adair Parks I &II)
4. National Night Out Against Crime (Aug. 7, 2001) A nation wide project where communities hold block parties, info. sessions, ect.. We had City of Atlanta Mayoral candidates: Gloria Tinubu, Shirley Franklin, Robb Pitts, and other individuals who were seeking various offices in attendance. Zone 3 mini-precinct also gave a community safety lecture. There were over 300 participants. We provided food, drinks, games, give-aways for adults and childern, (an old fashion community cook-out).
5. Citizens Academy (Hands On Atlanta) Perry Thornton Jr. conducted a lecture/historic presentation on Adair Park.
6. TOWN HALL MEETINGS:
a. Feb. Adair Park Charter School Proposal & information session
b. Spring 2001 Adair Park I &II renovation project
c. Safety and Code Enforcement session
7. New equipment is slated to be place in Adair Park I
8. Co- organize Health Fairs(Atlanta Healthy Start June 6, and Southside Health Care Back to School immunization drive July 28)
9. Feb.-June: Participated in the West End Liviable Center Initiative Advisory Committee
10. July: Georgia Power White Street Transmission Project
11. Spring- Co organizer of the Community Foundation`s Annual Sharing Reception (Perry Thornton Jr. was Master of Ceremonies)
12. Aug.-Form the APCE Health and Fitness Club: promotes morning and evening walks in the parks, lectures/seminars on health and fitness, outing.
13. Hands On Atlanta Day, Oct. 6, 2001 - Partnered with HOA for various home improvements for Senior Citizens.
14. APCEassoc. was the host to Mayoral Canidates and others seeking political office via community gatherings.

15. Partner with Atlanta City Council President Robb Pitts for our annual Safe Night (Halloween alternative) Oct. 27, 2001

16. Adair Park Charter School receives it`s Charter for the State of Georgia Sept. 13, 2001
17. APCEassoc. receives Outstanding Community Service Award from Atlanta City Councilmember Cleta Winslow (Oct. 13, 2001).

18. APCE assoc. / Marine Corp. Reserve Unit (Dobbins AFB) Annual Toys for Tots drive and give away. Over 400 children received toys. Abundant Love Christian Church was a partner in this event.

Georgia Power, Park Pride, and the APCE assoc. partnered on Dr. Martin Luther King Day to build a fence and plant shrubs at the Bonnie Brae Park. We also placed additional murals along the baseball field fence in Adair Park II.

New landscaping and playground equipment was place in Adair Park I toward the end of the 2001 calendar year.

APCEassoc. / U.S. Marine Corp. Reserve Unit Toys for Tots Drive and Distribution. We served over 500 children in metro Atlanta.

April 2003: Annual Community Clean-up with the Epstein School, Hands on Atlanta,& the Adair Park Community Empowerment Assoc.

Developed a new community safety committee concentrating on neighborhood watch programs and organizing a neighborhood phone tree to report criminal activity, code violations, ect..

Our community was able to save 3 senior citizens homes from being foreclosed on by working with them to obtain a reverse mortgage.

A new central heating and air system for Mrs. Walker via Wesley Community, a non-profit.

Providing seniors with finicial assistancew to pay their utility bills.

Partnering with the Atlanta Tool Bank to repair 6 homes in Adair Park. This work included , painting (interior and exterior), electrical, roofing, carpentry, and yard work.

Providing aid / support to families during times of need and tragedy ie: donating flowers, food, asking neighbors to volunteer help if needed.

Clean up Projects: Parnered with the Catholic Heart Work Camp (June 12-19th., 2003) we repaired homes, cleaned yards, built handicap ramps, painted, planted flowers, ect.. for ten homes.

Safe Night 2003 (our alternative to Halloween) Oct. 31, 2003 Bonnie Brae Park. We had 120 children participating in the activities.

APCEassoc. / U.S. Marine Corp. Reserve Unit Toys for Tots Drive and Distribution. This year Big Bethel Village (an assisted living facility) partnered with us to help sort & wrap the toys. We provided the entire Kindergarten class at Gideons Elementary School (150 children) with toys. We also provided the children of Adair Park,surrounding communities, and parts of metro Atlanta with toys.

Continuation with the establishment of the Adair Park Charter School.

Partnering with Ms. Pam Gartrell and Ms. K. Shirley (The Community Playhouse) to establish an afterschool arts program for the children of Adair Park.

Continued home repair project in partnership with the Atlanta Community Tool Bank

Partner with Georgia State University to conduct a research study on the Historic Gudeline protocal for Adair Park.

Develop the Take Stock in Your Community project (Community member Mr. Ervin Woods Chairperson) This project involves the doucmentation via digital photographs with description of each property with existing code violations and or properties where illegal activities are taking place. We then submit this information to the proper agencies. We also make suggestion to the agencies on how to best utilize the properties.

August 2004:

Partner with Hands on Atlanta and South Side HealthCare Inc. for it`s annual Back to School Immunization Drive. This event provides free immunizations and health screening for children in the Metro Atlanta area.

Partner with the Catholic Hearts program to perform home repairs on six homes in Adair Park for Senior Citizens and or persons with disabilities.

Partner with the Atlanta Tool Bank to provide minor home repairs to Senior Citizens in Adair Park.

Partner with Hands on Atlanta the Atlanta Tool Bank, and Greater Fortress Ave. Baptist Church to establish a mini Technology Center and Reading Loft/Media Center in Adair Park. This will enable Adair Park residnets to receive free computer skills and hopefully allow for continuing educational classes and tutoring. This center will be established on Hands on Atlanta Day October 16, 2004.

Refurbish the Bonnie Brae Park. This will also take place on Hands on Atlanta Day 2004.

Safe Night 2004. this is our alternative to children walking the streets for Halloween. This is an annual event. It will take place October 30, 2004 from 5:00pm-6:30pm.

Annuan Toys for Tots Toy drive and distribution party. Each year we partner with the U.S. Marine Corp. reserve unit based at Dobbins to provide toys for children in the Metro Atlanta area. This event will take place Dec. 18, 2004. (The toys were delivered to Gideons Elementary the first week of school 2005 because of a late toy delivery) We again serviced families from across the metro Atlanta area and the entire Kintergarden class at Giedion`s Elementary School. Technology Day`s project for Adair Park consist of replacing the picket fence at the Bonnie Brae park and adding computers to the soon to open Technology Center (located in the space donated by Greater Fortress Ave, Baptist Church). Technology Day will be held in March 2005.
