Oct 06, 2003

Airmont Civic Association
Meeting ?– September 21, 2003

Guest: Paula M. Marsilii, Office of Community Governing New Castle County

19:07 hrs. Chuck Ott (president) opened meeting with 11 association members in attendance.

Treasurers Report:
Treasurer Janet Grimminger reported $3123.51 in account. $20.00 dues payment received but not deposited.

Snow plowing:
Mr. Fox will be offered the contract again for this winter season. All comments about plowing from last year were positive.
Association Vice-president, Janine Meltzer, is still pursuing correct mileage reimbursement. Due to some ongoing pipe/culvert work in one of the cul-de-sacs, some neighborhood street mileage may not have been turned over to County.

Welcome Wagon:
Seems the neighborhood volunteer who offered to be in charge of the Welcome Wagon has made contact with some newcomers. Association President, Chuck Ott, offered the Welcome Wagon services to anyone who did not receive the Welcome Wagon material and would like to.

Web Site:
Association President, Chuck Ott, said web site is up-to-date and there is some information regarding managing open space posted on it.

Other concerns:
There was some discussion around the deed restrictions of the 3 Airmont sections. Civic Association will investigate if there are different restrictions.

There were concerns voiced about the go-carts on the neighborhood streets. NCC Government representative, Paula Marsilli, suggested association members call the non-emergency phone number listed in the New Castle County yellow pamphlet Frequently Used Phone Numbers. An official (most likely a police officer) will visit the home of the culprit. If there is obvious careless and reckless endangering activity, call 911 and report.

Block Captains:
Association President, Chuck Ott, questioned Paula Marsilli about the protocol regarding Block Captains. Information still needs to be gathered.

Paula M. Marsilii announcements:
Status of foreclosed properties;
312 Beech Lane-A building permit was issued in June and is good for 2 years. (comments from neighbor were the new owner has intentions of living in and is working on property. There have been some vandalism?’s that have delayed their planned move-in date.)
307 Beech Lane-property has been purchased.
Property owners are being informed that the property needs to be maintained to County Code even though they are not occupied.
Paula mentioned State and County Tax credit for Senior citizens. She had literature available.
Paula asked for volunteers for the ?“Wheels Program?” a program that provides transportation for seniors through volunteers. She asked for an hour a month. She had literature available.
Paula mentioned the Glasgow Regional Park ground breaking and its amenities.

Other concerns:
Debris encroaching on Jamison Corner road from property owners dumping yard waste on edge of road. Del-Dot should be notified, it is their jurisdiction but property owners responsibility.
Road Maintenance for pot holes in neighborhood. Paula M. Marsilii suggested calling the Del-Dot number for road repairs prior to calling district representatives to complain.

20:40 Al Grimminger motioned to adjourn. Association President, Chuck Ott, second.
