CERT Training Available for Our Community

What is CERT Training?

Emergency officials estimate that in the event of a large scale disaster, such as a violent earthquake, emergency services may not be available to all communities for hours or even days. The creation of a Community Emergency Response Team (CERT) in each neighborhood enables local residents to help each other until emergency services can respond. CERT Training provides basic knowledge that will be essential in the event of an emergency. Some of your neighbors have already completed the courses, but we would like to encourage more participation.

How prepared are you for a disaster?

The purpose of CERT is to improve the self-reliance of our neighborhoods, schools, and businesses in the event of a disaster. Each CERT team member will be involved with helping to manage their area’s post-disaster needs on a day-to-day basis.

The CERT teams need volunteers who would be willing to attend the free CERT training classes to learn preparedness. Men and women from all walks of life are needed. You need not have any special skills, although those with knowledge of hazmat, two-way radios, law enforcement or first aid are needed as well.
