  • Respect-O-Meter: Valued Neighbor
This message is to thank the many great people, and hopefully future neighbors, for the good neighborliness shown to us on many occasions. My wife and I moved to the Detroit metro area 1.5 years ago, when her job moved to Auburn Hills. We currently rent in Rochester, but have looked far and wide for a neighborhood that meets our future needs. We just happened into Sherwood Forest one Sunday after attending mass at Gesu on 7 mile. Knowing Detroit only by its often undeserved reputation, we were completely shocked by the jewel of a neighborhood we found. Even more, we were amazed at the goodwill shown us when we stopped to ask a question from one resident, who ended up giving us a 1.5 hour tour of the neighborhood, complete with stories of current and past residents. Sine that time, last summer, we have come back several times, and each time met a different resident, and each time received a warm, and informative welcoming. Much more than the distinctive and historical homes, tree lined streets, and proximity to all the city has to offer, the residents themselves are the greatest assets of the community. My wife and I certainly hope that we can be part of this community in the future, and share the same enthusiasm and passion for our neighborhood! In the mean time, we continue to walk around the neighborhood during our free time, searching for the perfect home!
