Over 200 Cielo parents, friends and community supporters were treated to a sparkling evening including dinner, dessert, music and a silent auction at the "Cielo Extravaganza" held February 11, 2009 at the Castle at Ashley Manor in Chandler.
This was the first year for the event, co-chaired by MarJean Steinkamp and Kelly Katsiris. Attendees enjoyed a steak dinner provided by Outback Steakhouse, with bread provided by Great Harvest Bread Company and dessert provided by Mom's Bakery of Mesa. Four Peaks Brewery provided the beer and wine pour.
Guests browsed over 100 silent auction items which included several sports-themed and entertainment baskets including game tickets and restaurant gift cards, as well as a chance to be "Principal for the Day" at Kyrene del Cielo. Bidding was fierce for a football autographed by Arizona Cardinal quarterback, Kurt Warner.
The evening also featured a raffle for a week's stay in an oceanfront condo located in the beautiful north shore resort community of Princeville, Kauai, Hawaii. Erin Reese, a Cielo Supporter, was the lucky winner of the raffle.
Entertainment for the evening was provided by "Back At It Again", featuring Cielo dads Tom Goodman and Steven Johnson.
The event raised over $25,000, including over $14,000 from the Silent Auction. "We're delighted by the success of the event, and happy that everyone had a fantastic time. We'd like to thank all of those who supported the Extravaganza, through their purchase of event and raffle tickets and their generous donations to the silent auction," said Steinkamp.
In addition to Four Peaks Brewing, Outback Steakhouse, Great Harvest Bread Company, Mom's Bakery and Starbucks, event sponsors include Rhino Internet Solutions, Intel, Employee Benefit Strategies Group and Swoozie's--Presents, Paper, Printing and Pizzazz, Sanctuary Builders and I M T Inc..
