Alta Mira Neighborhood

Entryway Renovations

Update

A City of Tempe Neighborhood Grant has been obtained for the purpose of improving the Alta Mira entryways. New signs will be placed at entrance walls at LaVieve & McClintock, Los Feliz & Warner and Kenwood & Warner.

The main entrance walls at Caroline & McClintock will have a combination of stacked stone and smooth stucco with new Alta Mira lettering. The look of the stucco and stone is similar to that of Estate La Colina, just north of us on Warner & Mc Clintock.

The work will commence some time after May 1, 2009.

Exterior Wall Redo

Alta Mira residents contributed generously to repair and restucco the exterior walls around our community.

The community raised approximately $14,000 for this work. Many residents pitched in to help with the fundraising. We reached our goal in spite of the tough economy.

The walls will be redone at the same time our entryway improvements are done. The work will commence some time after May 1, 2009.

A color choice was made at the community meeting on Feb 21, 2009.

Thanks to all who made this happen.

Goodwin Park Reconstruction Update

Check out the master plan on this website for the new Goodwin Park. The Park construction will begin sometime in 2010 and be completed by 2011. The plan for the park was created through a City of Tempe neighborhood grant and involved multiple community meetings for input.

The voters approved a bond election in November 2008 which provides the funds to construct the new park. The budget is approximately $1 million.

At a recent community meeting, residents prioritized elements of the park in case the budget falls short. All of the major work will be done (grading, trees, plants, new lighting, path through the park, turf, etc) but if we fall short of funds, residents have identified priorities.

Here is how the residents prioritized the elements at the Feb 21, 2009 community meeting: (Highest priority first)
1. Playground Equipment w Shade Canopy
2. Meditation Garden
3. Ramada East & West
4. Fabric Shade Pavilion North & South
5. Volleyball Court
6. Basketball Court Extension
7. Parcourse (Exercise) Stations
