Notes from the Housing Corner:


Owner-Occupied Home Repair:
UU HAC currently has Community development Block Grant funds available to repair homes in the Alta Vista and Beacon Hill Areas. UU HAC will advise you on work to be done to bring your home up to City code and find qualified repair contractors, to be selected by homeowners. UU HAC reviews work done. Costs are paid through owner financing and 10-year deferred loans to the homeowners. The CDBG loans do not need to be paid back if the low-income home owners qualify as unable to pay their property taxes, and maintain homeowners insurance.

Home Improvement Loans Program:
UU HAC has begun a second loan program for low-and moderate income homeowners in the Alta Vista and Beacon Hill Areas. Qualified homeowners may borrow up to $15,000. from Broadway National Bank and the UU HAC for home repair at a rate of 6.44%. Loans are repayable in 10-15-year terms depending on the amount borrowed.

First Time Homebuyer?’s Leveraged Loan Program:
UU HAC works with qualified low-income buyers to have homes built in the Alta Vista/Beacon Hill Area. Frost National Bank finances the first-lien mortgage at 1% less than current lending rates, and the City?’s HOME program finances $10,000.00 of the down payment, closing and other costs at 3%. This program allows qualified individuals the ability to keep their house payment including taxes and insurance around $550.00 per month.

Home Rehab/Resell:
If your home is in need of extensive repairs and you no longer can afford to maintain it, UU HAC is interested in purchasing your home! UU HAC can purchase homes, repair them and sell them to low-and moderate ?–income persons, who are interested in moving into this area. Before you contact a realtor, call us and see if we can help!!
