We completed another clean-up this past weekend. The streets cleaned where 47 Ave., Campbell and Glenrosa. This was done with the help of Neighborhood members and some children from the Community Outreach Program. We disposed of over 20 bags of trash containing everything from paper to beer bottles. I must say those streets looked good for a whole 2 days. By Sunday night
there was bottles, cans, and fast food bags in these same streets. . To bad some people take so little pride in the neighborhood in which they live. Any solutions greatly appreciated.

Litter in the Streets
I think that alot of the trash that is dumped in the neighborhood is from the cut-through traffic on 47th Avenue and also from the mobile vendors (ice cream trucks, corn peddlers, etc). I myself have seen vehicles drive down the road and just toss their trash out the window. These litter bugs have no regard for the environment or for other people. What ever happened to people getting tickets for littering? Well, I guess you have to catch them in the act, just like the grafitti vandals who also litter the neighborhood.
It's one of those Catch 22 problems that we have to deal with daily.

Crackdown on Vendors
Councilman Mattox's office is currently asking for help from his neighborhoods in giving them details on the ice cream vendors. I would think this may also apply to the other vendors as well that litter our neighborhoods.
They are asking for license plates, names of the vendors' trucks and carts, time of day they appear. Also any other nuisances that they may be causing, littering, noise, etc.
They also are asking if they have been parking at local parks.
