But one main reason is this crime.
Imagine your teenage daughter or wife sunning by the pool with Montgomery thugs roaming the neighborhood. Let alone all the would-be perverts.
But I would much rather have the money spent on 3 gate systems that cars would have to go through.
I am not talking about a gate where you had to punch in your code, just a gate that slowly opens and closes for each car. There is a neighborhood (Wynn Ridge I think) in Montgomery that does this. This does NOT keep crime out, but it does force cars to come to an almost complete stop waiting for the gate to open. It is during this stop that a camera could easily get a license tag number.
However, I suppose the toll bridge would have gotten the last criminals tag number but either their cameras are terrible or they just don't want to help us residents that allow them to swim in cash.
