Well, I do so many things I really don't know where to begin. For the Pink House I have been on a mission to create business stakeholders for the Neighborhood Resource Center. Since we are a technology based center we host technology based programs for the kids and adults of the Ardmore/Sherwood neighborhood. We have partnered with a few of the businesses in the neighborhood, Limehouse Produce, Piggly Wiggly, Food Lion, Rick Hendricks, Kmart, The Red Cross, The City of Charleston.
For the Ardmore/Sherwood Forest neighborhood, what the community liaison does is coordinate all community activities hosted by the association from the resource center. We host projects and canvas for resident volunteers. We communicate with and help to create business stakeholder to increase the strength of the neighborhood association. We are helping to create a strong bonds between the neighborhood residence and the business residence.
First, volunteer, volunteer, volunteer!
When I say volunteer, it doesn't always have to be at the center, we have many small jobs when an activity is being planned that could be done from your home in a few minutes.
Second, attend the events hosted by your association. Come out and see what's going on in your neighborhood. It could be fun.
Three, as Rev. King always says, life is simple and we love to eat around here so come out and let's get to know each other and see if we can build a strong community base for our children and our families.
