We had some baby pit bulls stolen from Central Ave on Sunday. I am happy to report that we have recovered 3 of them and an arrest has been made of the person who reportedly bought those dogs. One of the dogs was recovered all the way in Richmond/Henrico and was brought back to Hopewell and once the animals are checked out and found to be in good health they will be returned to the owner.
I am meeting with the victim of this crime on Saturday at 11:00 a.m and will be helping him move his dog pen closer to his house and to build a makeshift roof on the pen for the long term health of the animals. Anyone who would like to come and help with this effort is urged to attend and meet me over there at 1201 Central Ave on Saturday November 20th at 1100 a.m.
I want to publicly thank the efforts of Detective Rick Hartman and Animal Control Officers Amanda Amaral and Heike Polumbo for the efforts that they made to work so quickly to return these dogs and continue to look for the others.
Thank you as well to Nicole Bell and the Channel 12 News family for quickly putting this story on the news and getting the faces of these puppies out in the public and getting the ball rolling on Crime Solvers. It was a concerned citizen who called crime solvers and broke the case for us.
I am working with Crime Solvers to ensure that this concerned citizen is compensated for their care and concern.
