The last year?’s annual Vista Picnic was probably the most successful ever. Mark your calendar for this year?’s picnic on September 8th. If you already have vacation plans for that weekend, cancel them.

As you register at the picnic, you will receive one free lottery ticket for your family and guests for the drawings. If anyone wishes to donate a prize, or if anyone works for a company that would donate a prize for our picnic lottery, please contact and deliver it to Rose Coniglio.

We intend to distribute a picnic flier before the picnic to highlight the games, the food, and other relevant information. We hope to see you there.

ARLINGTON VISTA SOFTBALL CHALLENGE: This year Rosehill Drive challenges the rest of Arlington Vista to a adult/teen softball game at the Vista picnic on September 8th at 4:00 PM in Flentie Park. All those wishing to participate should contact their respective team captains as follows: Rosehill Thorns Team Captain is Kelly O?’Neil. Vista Warriors Team Captain is Bob Mason. While we will try to make this game one for the record books, remember that this will be a fun game, so don?’t consider skill a necessity.

ANNUAL HOMEOWNER ASSOCIATION DUES: $5.00. Admission to the picnic is free for all members of any household belonging to the Arlington Vista Homeowners Association. The annual household dues membership is $5.00. It is collected each summer. Your area delegate will be collecting your $5.00 dues during August. It is possible to pay your dues at the picnic if you have not paid before then. Picnic guests cost $3.00 for each person.

Vista Sewer Construction

The Village Board of Trustees approved a contract to improve both the sanitary sewer problems in Arlington Vista and the capacity of the Vista storm sewers. Construction of a new sanitary sewer in Arlington Terrace just south of Palatine Road will increase the efficiency of the Vista sanitary sewer. Construction of that sewer will begin in early August.

In mid August, new storm sewer construction will begin in Arlington Vista. In a few areas, rear yards will be drained into these new street sewers. The construction will include the following:

1.) There will be a new sewer beginning in the Rosehill cul-de-sac, going east into Flentie Park, and south to Mulberry. There will be a new short segment of storm sewer installed on Mulberry from the western side of Flentie Park to the eastern side at Birchwood.
2.) A new sewer will begin in the Maple Lane cul-de-sac going to Lilac. From Lilac and Maple it will go to Lilac and Jonquil Terrace.
3.) A new sewer will begin at Jonquil Terrace and Rosehill Drive and go southeast to Jonquil Terrace and Lilac Terrace where is joins with the Maple Lane sewer.
4.) From Jonquil Terrace and Lilac, the sewer goes east on Lilac to Birchwood at the emergency access. Then it proceeds north on Birchwood to Mulberry at Flentie Park. At that point it will discharge into the 48?” storm sewer that collects storm water from the current storm sewers. The combination of current storm water flow plus flow in the new storm sewers then flows in the 48?” sewer into Lake Arlington.

For more, see the article that is included courtesy of the Arlington Heights Post. The headline writer for the article confused the name of our subdivision with the name of a renowned Internet search engine (Alta Vista). However, the staff writer did a commendable job of explaining a complicated subject.

If anyone has any questions about the sewer construction, please feel free to contact Jack Fahey.

Palatine Road

The latest information from the Village Engineering Department is that the IDOT Design Team will be finishing blueprints next year, and IDOT will be ready to let bids to contractors in June 2002. Bids may be opened by IDOT in July or August of 2002. Some work may begin in September or October, but the main work will occur in 2003 on Palatine Road between Windsor Drive and Schoenbeck Road and other sections to the east and west. If you desire more information, see past Vista Views for a thorough report on the plans, or talk with Paul Hebein or Jack Fahey.

Vista Entrance at Rosehill and Windsor Drive

We met with the Village to request the repair of the road at Windsor Dive and Rosehill. Later this year, Rosehill from Windsor to Evergreen will be milled and then repaved. During 2003 or 2004, the entrance will be widened a few feet to allow two lanes of exiting vehicles to leave simultaneously.

New Vice Presidents

We thank Kelly and Tim O?’Neil for volunteering to jointly assume the position of Vice President. This is the first time we have had two people serving in the capacity of one office. It will be up to the two of them to settle any differences behind closed doors. We wish them continued domestic bliss.

Dear Area Delegates:

The Village was late in providing the information that allowed us to use Flentie Park for our picnic on September 8th, despite sewer construction in and around Flentie Park about that time.

Therefore, Vista Views was delayed by a couple of weeks in getting the picnic information to our residents.

Because of this delay, I have decided to pass the newsletter with some other help to be certain that our residents all receive the information in a timely manner to make plans.

I mentioned in the newsletter that you would be collecting the $5.00 dues in August.

(1) Therefore, although you do not have to distribute the newsletter, please make every effort to collect the $5.00 annual dues from each household that wishes to be a member of our association. Please finish your collection in your area by the August 31st.

(2) Even if you have not collected dues from all homes by August 31st, please deliver the dues that you have collected to our Treasurer, Andrea Hannan, no later than August 31st.

(3) Please continue to attempt collection from late payers after August 31st and deliver further dues to Andrea.

(4) Please remember to list the name and address of each dues payer when you deliver the dues so that we can keep accurate records.

(5) Also list the address ?– and name if you know it--- of any household that does not wish to join the association.

Thank you for your volunteer efforts.
