I put my son into online home school 2 years ago and I plan to enroll my 9th grade daughter this year.  It was BEST thing I ever did!  All the education without all the social and political influences that tend to get kids bogged down.  My daughter is reaching an age where I just don't feel safe releasing her into the general population.  With peer pressure, drugs, sex, illness and many other negative factors I am amazed at how any of these kids make it out of High School alive!  If a parent doesn't have to send their children to school then they are fortunate and should exploit the advantage they have.
