After 4 months of inspections, we can definitely see an improvement in the neighborhood. Some of you have commented that you felt you were being singled out for enforcement after receiving a violation letter. Please rest assured this is not the case.
In the first 3 months alone we sent out over 140 violation letters, mostly for dead areas and weeds. The association understood the winter had been a difficult one and that many of your lawns suffered greatly. All we needed was an owner to submit a written restoration plan and then stick to their plan.
The association is more than willing to work with any homeowner by giving them the necessary time to make repairs, as the goal of the inspections is to keep the neighborhood looking great and your property values climbing!
Now that we are into the dead of summer the greatest challenge ahead will be Chinch bugs, Sod Web Worms and Mole Crickets. If you see brown areas appearing in your lawn, take action immediately because these bugs can rapidly damage a lawn. There are a number of easy steps that can be done to test for Chinch bugs but the other pests are better left to professionals.
Because of the extremely wet weather we have had this summer the other big problem now is Dollar weed. With the temperatures so high, an owner can not really get rid of the problem chemically without damaging the lawn. If your lawn begins to have Dollar weed, the best remedy is to pull it up as soon as it appears, that way it doesn?’t run under your grass and cause major problems.
Finally, we still have a few homes that do not have mailboxes that match the design and color of their homes as originally constructed. Unfortunately, those homeowners will be required to have matching mailboxes constructed to blend harmoniously with the surrounding properties.
