SIGN/POLICE

There is a sign posted at the amenities but has never seemed to work- the police do not even scare them! I never let this go & have been calling to the police to set a standard it won't be tolerated since 2003 & they just don't care. So terrible that there are public parks all over town & they have to come here.

Basketball Court [proposal]

How about a graduated approach to the basketball court problem?

Give the kids of the neighborhood a chance to police the basketball courts themselves.

Call together all parties interested in retaining the basketball courts. That includes the kids, teenagers, and their parents. Inform them of the neighborhood?’s concerns regarding the current use of the courts. (i.e. alcohol, vulgar language, trash, and hours of use) The fate of the basket court would rest solely on their ability to self-govern it. Failure to maintain a civilized atmosphere would ultimately result in the removal of the basketball goals. Of course, the terms would have to be clearly defined (i.e. the course of action if the HOA continues to field complaints regarding the basketball court).

If it is determined that the basketball goals must be removed, then the equipment should be place on an online auction site and the proceeds should go towards improving/repairing the remaining amenities.

I have focused so much on the aggrevation this causes in the sales center that I never really looked at it in the light- this is a great way to have involvement & take ownership in were you live- I will send out a flier next week & see how this works. Of course they would be online auction if they are forced to go away the goal alone are $2,290 a piece- this was acostly amentity & just hate to see it bring the wrong crowd & ruin for are homeowners. Communication is Key

It is very important to communicate what has been going on with the basketball courts with everyone in the community.

The first I heard of the issue with the courts was at the end of May. I've been to the pool/basketball area a number of times, before and after I became aware of the problem (usually late afternoon, evening times, usually 3x a week), and have witnessed a seemingly large group of kids playing ball once.

At the HOA meeting, I saw a lot of people frustrated by what has been going on there and quite a few that seemed surprised that the basketball courts were going to be removed. There is no question in my mind that the courts need to be addressed. In order to properly address the issue there needs to be good communication.

How often is this occuring and at what times? Is it the same group of kids or different groups? Are the kids friends with anyone in the community? How often have these kids been caught drinking and been disrespectful? In what ways has the community tried to deal with this problem and what were the outcomes?

Those interested in taking ownership of trying to keep the courts will need this type of information so they can decide if this is a battle worth pursuing or not. Through good communication we'll be able to get this issue resolved quickly and in the best interest of the community.
