From the April 1 edition of the Courier-Journal: "Work began to widen New Cut Road from two to four lanes between Third Street Road and the Snyder Freeway in December 2001. A sidewalk was built in front of the Auburn Oaks subdivision, but it ends just north of the railroad tracks across Metro Councilwoman Vicki Welch said the 530-foot sidewalk in her district will provide a much-needed connection for people walking to the Auburndale Village Shopping Center from Auburn Oaks and Kenwood Heights Christian Church."
Auburndale resident Ray Whitener commented "that in addition to answering much needed safety concerns, the sidewalk enhances the pedestrian friendliness fo the Center." The project is a win-win for both the surrounding neighborhoods and businesses".
