More than 100 residents filled the cafeteria at Kenwood Elementary to hear the latest about neighborhood issues and concerns.
Ray Whitener welcomed those present and announce that Doug Hamilton, Emergency Management Agency Director will speak to the September meeting.
Recognized Councilwoman District 13 Vicki Welch and State Representative Tim Firkins in the audience.
Introduced staff members from Doug Hawkins office, Scott Harrington and Renay Davis.
Heard treasurer Ray Crider who thanked the meeting notification sign brigade. Crider recently arranged for printing of REMINDER SIGNS that will be placed Wednesday prior to the regular Tuesday meeting for all to see. In addition, meeting notices are posted on tne Ratterman and Gailor Animal Hospital signs. The neighborhood extends our thanks to these Auburndale businesses
In addition, the naighborhood is in the process of incorporation. Efforts to seek 501 (c) 3 status have been halted due to the $300 filing fee.
Metro Call Chair Tony Spratt gave a detailed report of Metro Call activity. Neighbors are encouraged to contact Tony who will in turn forward the request.

Public Safety Chair Ken Williams informed the group that certain streets are considering establishing Block Watch area. An LMPD officer was unable to attend for the crime statistics update.
Public Works Chair Stephen Cotton shared pictures of the Bruce Creek tour with MSD, Councilman Hawkins office and various members of the neighborhood. MSD worked diligently the day of the flood to remove obstructions that were preventing the flow of water at peak times. Discussion is underway to conduct a clean up along the creek.
Ray Whitener opened the floor for questions. The was concern that some residences owning basketball goals had been indiscriminately ticketed (according to Public Works such devices left on the public right of way are considered obstructions) Whitener distributed a list rules to remember from another municipality and promised to keep association members informed.
Representative Tim Firkins acknowledging the upcoming Legislative session expressed willingness to answer questions about the upcoming General Assembly especially since 2010 will be the budget session.
The association is looking at the October meeting.
