So it is a statewide plan do not be overwhelmed!
First, bring up the site and go to the project maps and print the map for District 5 KDOT Office. You'll see Jefferson County and surrounding counties for which the district office is responsible. There you'll see a mix of projects at various stages including Greenwood Road and Johnsontown Roads. Next, pull up Jefferson County under project listings where you're able to download a PDF version for your use.
Where did the projects come from? Some are maintenance, while others are responses to increased traffic patterns due to commercial development and for safety reasons. Several years ago a second exit and bridge provide to allow neighbors another means of access increase a train derailment would accidentally block the main access route.
For the Southwest there are a series of smaller projects not yet in the plan that would move traffic from the southwest along Old Third Street, St Andrews Church Road, Palatka, Outer Loop from Old Third to New Cut that would significantly improve access to commercial centers and safety.
