There is alot of talk in our community about the teenagers, a lack of respect for themselves and their elders, and about the drug and gang elements that are popping up. This concerns me as much as it does my neighbors. While we have a Neighborhood Watch in effect, we need to do something else. We really need to get our youth involved in this effort. How can we expect them to become good citizens if we don't take the time to train them how to be good citizens. Go to the web page http://www.ycwa.org/
Youth Crime Watch of America. This web site proves that if we give respect to our youngsters, we can get respect back. They need our respect, and to be given some responsibility in this community. It's their home too, so lets get them involved and motivated to take some pride in it!

Sounds great. The website was really great. We should notify the Neighborhood Watch Chairman and maybe he can get together a committee to head this program?

YOUTH CRIME PREVENTION

Checked out the websites. Lots of interesting ideas. I also found some others.

top 5 things I found to help out:


1. offer the kids a job cutting grass (keeps them busy)

2. organize an event geared for the children..a fourth of july parade around the community....floats, wagons, bands, special talents, etc.

3. teens vs. adults softball game

4. organize a community cleanup in behalf of Cambridge (great for resume and college applications)

5. encourage youth to write an article for the newsletter.
