Gary Bradley would love building a community center for us only if the builders would ''donate'' another $1,000 at the closing of every new home.

Can we not do this ourselves?

Thanks, but no thanks. What I had in mind was getting some land donated and then re-directing some of our HOA dues to supplement money that would be raised specifically for the project. If you know someone who wants to donate land (maybe that unused tract between Kiker and the Child Development Center) then that would be a good start.

I have spoken with some City of Austin officials who indicated to me that they would be willing to donate city land for such a purpose and even help with the costs of construction.

Who will help me build a community center for the kids?
