ATTENTION NEIGHBORS!

Thefts are occuring in our neighborhooed and it is time to call in suspcious activity to the police. If you see a strange car with a load muffler in the middle of the night, call the police.

LOCK ALL VEHICLES, DON'T LEAVE VALUABLES IN YOUR AUTO, KEEP GARAGE DOORS SHUT, HAVE MOTION DECTECTOR LIGHTS AND HAVE OUTDOOR LIGHTS ON THROUGHOUT THE NIGHT FOR SECURITY.

Most of all keep an eye on your neighbors and call them if they happen to leave their garage door open late at night. Be a good neighbor, that will keep everyone safer.

The emails below were distributed through the community via our Area Reps and BWCA board members. Week of July 12-16, 2010.

Hello,

I did send this email out to some of the other neighbors, regarding our theft and yet another theft the same evening on Beaverhead Court!!!
Hi Neighbors,

We left our garage door open Tuesday night(same night). They got into my car took about $20.00 in change, but more importantly they took my check book and my personal address book. They could have taken my Radar detector, golf clubs and anything they wanted in our garage. I'm assuming they were on foot...it appears they were in a big hurry leaving a change trail. This tells us it's kids roaming the neighbor at night.

I did report this to the police yesterday.

Have a great day everyone,

Hello,

I just wanted you to all know that the thefts are continuing. Tuesday evening, Our truck was unlocked and the spare change and his lacrosse stick were stolen from the truck.

Last night about 3:30AM my neighbor looked out the window and saw a dark car, with a loud muffler stop in our court and someone got out of the car and ran up our driveway at on  Big Sky!

Keep them locked and nothing of value in sight!!!

The thefts from autos in our neighborhood have at least started an email of communication for our association. All of these replies that I have posted our from neighbors in our community.

Please try to attend our next BWCA meeting. We will be discussing what Blockwatch is and how to get more involved in the communication process of preventing crime in our neighborhood. Please vistit the pages and links that I have posted about Blockwatch Information.Below is a sample of one of the pages about Auto Theft:

Auto Theft Layers of Protection

  • Always lock your car, even at home in your garage.
  • Roll up your windows.
  • Never leave valuables in your car.
  • Use a visible anti-theft device like a steering wheel lock, etc.
  • Use an alarm system with an electrical cutoff to disable the car.
  • When shopping or parking in large parking lots, always park as close to any activity as possible.
  • If possible, equip your car with a tracking device like "Lo Jack" or GM's "On Star" system. This will aid in recovery of your vehicle.
  • No one device works all the time. Thats why you need to consider layers of protection.

ANOTHER EMAIL FROM AREA RESIDENT:

Hello!

Also on Beaver Head Ct there was a theft from our auto. We were also hit on Tuesday night. The garage door had been left open all night. So please, check your garage doors at nigth and also watch out for your neighbors!!!! They got into our car and took all the change, planner and the checkbook.

I did hear a car door close somewhere around 2:30 a.m. but with all the young kids I just assumed it was somebody just getting home. So please check car doors and garage doors before retiring for the night.

Stay safe!!!
