It's difficult to believe we are already into the first month of 2009. I want to thank everyone for their support and trust by re-electing me as your president and your officers for another term. We look forward to working with all of you once again.
The officers and board members of The Azalea Neighborhood, Assn. Inc., work hard all year for you. We feel it's important to be involved in the day to day workings of our community, to keep up with proposed city projects, current events, crime in the "Azalea" area, traffic calming, etc. Now with the Raytheon toxic contamination looming over our heads, we are working even harder to bring you the best most accurate information possible.
We help to bring you the Easter egg hunt at Walter Fuller Park, The "Azalea News" that is hand delivered door to door, the amnesty dumpsters and the curbside trash pick up. I can go on and on, there is always something going on behind the scenes?….us?…working for you! But let me assure you this is NOT a private club open to a select few, it is YOUR Association. We are always open to your suggestions and welcome anyone wanting to help move The Azalea Neighborhood, Association, Inc., forward. There are many different opportunities available for volunteers to help. Perhaps some of you would like to be on a committee, making phone calls, help with the newsletter?…write an article, or help deliver it on your block. You can become an officer or board member provided you meet the necessary requirements; we would welcome your participation. The attendance at our monthly meetings has increased as more of you are taking interest in what is going on in our neighborhood. We do our best to bring you guest speakers that are very informative and entertaining.
As most of you know we have been including updates in the Azalea News about the Toxic Plume, the progress of the pending court case and many articles from various sources. However the printing of the newsletter is very costly, and without the fall festival to pay for the scholarships and other expenses?…we must cut back on the amount of pages printed. Therefore, you will need to come to the monthly meetings to get your updated information. We will also be offering only one scholarship this year due to the lack of financial resources. Last but not least The Azalea News will only be printed and delivered three (3) times a year and not four in order to save money.
Please remember your $20.00 regular membership and your $15.00 associate membership is due now?…we need these funds to continue to work for you. Thank you for your understanding and help.
