President Letter:
Every month I try to write something that is interesting and informative; sometimes I feel that I achieved my goal, sometimes not. This month is no exception.
As I?’ve traveled around the country this past year, I realize just how fortunate we who live in Saint Petersburg are and how, when I travel, I miss home. I pondered this as I sat in the Hartford, CT. airport waiting for my flight home, having just braved four inches of new snow (and a high of 19?°, which covered up the already dirty 13 inches of snow that fell last week) ?– burrrrr.
I thought about our neighborhood and its people. We have such a variety of talent in our little community. People who, when the chips are down, will step up to the plate and pitch in helping out ?– where ever and whenever they can. Volunteers, who ask nothing in return for their time and effort.
So, to all of you, the Officers and Board of Directors of The Azalea Neighborhood Association; to our members for caring enough to spend a few dollars to join the Association; to those adults and young people who give of their time delivering our wonderful Azalea News Letter; to our neighborhood merchants who feed us, sell us groceries, repair our automobiles, cut our hair, trim our trees, clothe our children and massage the kinks out of our tired bodies: I say THANK YOU!
To any of you I may have grumped at, been short with or publicly disagreed with, I say THANK YOU! Thank you for overlooking my shortcomings and cutting me some slack.
You elected me President, but I would be helpless and totally ineffective without all of you backing me up and being there when needed.

Special note from the editor ?– WHAT IS GOING ON?
Sex Offenders, Child Pornography, Child Abuse, Missing Children, and now even Kidnapping ?… this is getting outrageous, unbelievable and unacceptable. The one question that keeps coming to mind is, ?“What is going on??” These are OUR children and we are responsible for them. Something needs to change and fast! We heard about Jessica Lunsford and Carly Brucia and so many more. These images will be buried in our minds and hearts forever, but we, as ?“keepers?” of our brothers and sisters, need not bury these children in our minds and hearts ?… we need to take ACTION! Let?’s take this to the next level and make it happen ?– change the way the system works and do it now!
Please contact your Congressman, write letters, go on the internet, and use the tools we have as weapons against these evil actions. Take a moment, and don?’t put if off: Do it now. This has to STOP ?– our children are our future ?– do it for them ?– it?’s our responsibility ?– you can make a difference and save a Child?’s life. PLEASE HELP!
