ROLES DEFINED

At our membership meeting on February 8, 2000, roles and responsibilities were defined for all Zonta members, the Executive Board, and the committees. These were distributed following the meeting to all members.

The intent of the discussion was not to REPLACE any of those defined in the Zonta handbook, but to ADD TO or CLARIFY them.

As we continue to work together, we want to support and maintain an environment which is open and productive. There will always be differing perspectives in a diverse group such as ours -- and that's a value we should encourage and cherish. While we want the various ideas and opinions to surface, we do not want them to create conflict within the group which could negatively impact the achievement of the mission to which we subscribe by our membership.

The responsibilities of all Zonta members we discussed should help us:
1. Ask questions and seek clarification.
2. Understand your role/responsibilities and work to fulfill it.
3. Solicit feedback and input.
4. Realize that everyone is trying to do a good job. Try to see things from the other person's perspective.
