Man shot and killed in apartment parking lot
A 28-year-old man was fatally shot in an apartment complex parking lot in the 9800 block of Dale Crest Drive about 2 a.m. Saturday.

Carlos Armenta was taken to Parkland Memorial Hospital, where he died at 2:47 a.m. Dallas police said that Mr. Armenta and a friend were in the parking lot when two men approached them.

Homicide Detective Marvin Ned said that the two men spoke briefly to Mr. Armenta but that it was unclear what was discussed. Mr. Armenta was shot, and the two men fled. Police had only vague descriptions of the suspects, Detective Ned said.
NOTE: Chief Bolton reports that violent crime is down this year. Part of the reason for this reduction is the fact that if someone is shot, but dies at Parkland, it doesn?’t count as a murder for that area (or Parkland either).
