Dallas City Council Passes New Trash Ordinance

On August 25th, the Dallas City Council
adopted new rules shortening the
amount of time that bulky trash can be
set out before pickup day.
Under the new ordinance, oversized
brush and bulky trash can be set out no
sooner than the Thursday before
collection week and no later than 7 am
on the Monday of that week. The new
rules also make it an offense to set out
bulky trash after 7 am on the Monday of
pickup week.
The City will launch an informational
campaign between 10/15 and 11/15
that will include mailing the new rules to
residents. Code inspectors will conduct
a sweep the week of 11/29, giving
notices to people in violation of the
ordinance. After that, residents who do
not follow the fules can receive a fine of
up to $200.
