GUERREROs Late Hrs Permit Appeal

Posted in: Bachman-NW Highway
On Thursday, December 16th, there will be a License Appeal Hearing for M&G Guerrero Bar Enterprises, Inc., dba Guerrero Bar #2, for a late night hours permit.

The hearing is set for 10:30 am in room 4CN#2 at City Hall. It will be heard by PANEL C, which includes Denny Brown (appointed by Alan Walne), Betty Svoboda (apptd by Barbara Mallory-Carraway), and Michael Munsterman (apptd by Laura Miller).

Guerrero Bar #2 is located at 9615 Overlake, between Webb Chapel Ext. and Community Drive. There have reportedly been many police calls to this location. The Vice Department is expected to recommend a denial, based on previous problems and various violations.

*** VOICE YOUR OPINION ***
There are many clubs / bars in our Bachman neighborhood that are staying open after 2:00 am, without a late night hours permit. Many are operating in areas zoned Commercial Retail without a Special Use Permit. Several applications will be coming up in the near future. Now is our opportunity to pull together to
a) improve quality of life
b) reduce some FRACTION of
alcohol-related business
c) promote positive economic growth
d) help improve property values.

NOW is the time. NOW when we are getting our DART Light Rail and Rail Station. NOW when we have the City of Dallas and the State of Texas supporting us through our Northwest Highway Urban Design Study. NOW when our Bachman Lake dredging project is coming about. NOW is the time for Bachman area businesses and residents to pull together to improve our community. We don't need more bars. We need to reduce alcohol-related business.

Late Hrs Permit Appeal WITHDRAWN

Is it a lesser violation to stay open after 2:00 am if you never appealed for a late night hours permit than to have appealed and lost?

(The original permit request was denied by the Police Department and they were appealing to the License and Appeals Board.)

Special Thanks to the community neighbors that helped us do our homework to be prepared for this case. Even though it was withdrawn, the bottom line is:

NO LATE HOURS PERMIT WAS GRANTED!
