Neighborhoods, USA is a national non-profit organization committed to building and strengthening neighborhood organizations.

The 2008 Neighborhoods USA Conference is being hosted by the City of Hampton, VA. It will gather together hundreds of neighborhood leaders, grass-roots organizers, government officials, and citizens from all over the country. They are attending the conference not only to learn, but to share the successes and challenges they have experienced within their own neighborhoods. From Alaska to Florida, the attendees will bring numerous and varied experiences that will contribute to making this conference a unique and valuable one.

Workshops and Keynote Speaker

The conference will feature workshop
presenters from over 15 states across the country and innovators in the Hampton Roads region who will focus on neighborhood organizing, revitalization, community, culture, safety, youth and more. Because of Hampton’s long history of
innovation in youth development, this year’s conference will feature an
enhanced Youth Development track designed by youth and adults.

The keynote speaker for this year’s conference is Hampton’s own Robert “Bob” O’Neill, Jr., Executive Director of the International City Managers Association (ICMA). Bob is nationally known for his “reinvention” of Hampton’s government during his tenure as City Manager from 1984 to 1997. You will not want to miss this rare opportunity to meet and hear from this modern visionary whose leadership
has inspired the creation of neighborhood initiatives across the country.

Hampton is a “NUSA Award-Winning” host city and you will have the opportunity to see up close why they have won so many awards. You’ll not want to miss out on visiting its great
