Banta Neighborhood Association

Happy Spring (?) Everyone

Hopefully the weather will soon cooperate with the season. We have several projects in the works and welcome everyone's input. If you have any suggestions for a project you would like our association involved with please let us know.

Historic Designation: You may have read in the Times that we would like to become a Historic Landmark Neighborhood. There are many benefits to us as homeowners. If you are interested please contact Debbie Dohner 464-9966 or Lynne Uban 462-8058. They are the committee working with the Valparaiso Historic Preservation Commission.

We need a logo: Are you a budding artist? If so, we need you! We are looking for a logo to identify our association. If you have an idea please present it to Debbie, Ellen or Lynne. We would like to have all ideas before our May meeting so that those in attendance can vote on the design.

Welcoming Committee: Do you have a new neighbor? If so please let us know so that we can officially welcome them to our association.

Upcoming Events at Banta Activity Center: During the month of April, shop at the Buck Stop on Lincolnway and make a purchase for Banta. There is a list of items posted the Center could use. Banta's Annual Spring Bazaar, Bake Sale and Lunch will be held April 29. They need 4-5 volunteers to help set up the day before and 2-3 volunteers to help the day of the bazaar. They are also asking for donated bake sale items with the list of ingredients provided. May 6th is Game Day. They are looking for 5-6 volunteers to bring games, facilitate and join the fun. Red Hat Tea is May 19. This would be a great day to get involved and have some fun. Interested neighbors should contact Paula or Carol 462-1301.

City Council meetings this month are April 10th & 24th at 7 pm at City Hall. Please attend these meetings whenever possible. It's a great way to know what is going on in the city and everyone has an opportunity at the end of the meeting to voice their opinions and views.

In closing I would like to say this is a great neighborhood and definitely fits one of Webster's definitions. neighborhood: a section lived in by neighbors and usually having distinguishing characteristics.
