Banta Neighborhood Association

Recent Meeting

Jul 31, 2006

Hello Neighbors! First off I would like to thank Tony Hahn, Charlotte Friedlund, Ellen Chapelle and Lynne Uban for helping to distribute the flyers this month. We could not have gotten this done without your help. I would also like to thank Dan Schulz for generously paying for the printing. I would finally like to thank all the neighbors who attended our meeting.

We reviewed and adopted our by laws and will now be able to proceed with our not-for-profit status. We will update everyone through the newsletter as info becomes available.

Don't forget Tues. Aug. 1 is National Night Out. If you are unable to attend our event at Central please turn on your porch lights from 6:30 - 9:00 to show your support.

The 2nd Annual pot luck picnic is this Sunday from 1:00 - 5:00 at the Banta Activity Center. Please try to attend. It is a casual format and if you can't stay for the whole event atleast come for a while and meet your neighbors.

WANTED: We are in the process of planning with the City of Valpo and ShareFest to do a neighborhood clean-up project on Oct. 21. Ellen has been in meetings with the ShareFest Committee and they want to hear from us on projects in the neighborhood. Please contact Ellen for further details.

Information on the Historic Designation: The Historic Preservation Commission will meet Thurs. Aug 17 at 7:00 pm at City Hall. The guidelines will be introduced and the Commission is seeking input from the residents. Please attend this very important meeting.

We have a great neighborhood and we should all be very proud of the progress we've made and the attention we're getting.
