HEALTH ALERT - RELEASE OF 28000 LBS OF SULFER DIOXIDE INTO THE AIR !!!

The Delaware Department of Natural Resources and Environmental Control is reporting a release via the Delaware Environmental Release Notification System.
On February 13, 2012 at 3:41 PM there was a release involving 28000.00 LBS of SULFUR DIOXIDE into the air from DELAWARE CITY REFINERY at 4550 WRANGLE HILL ROAD in DELAWARE CITY.
This chemical or substance is considered to be hazardous by the EPA.
This incident is currently under investigation by DNREC.

Comments: THE REPORTING PERSON, ADVISED THAT TWO COMPRESSORS IN THE "CRACKER" UNIT WERE INOPERABLE DUE TO AN ELECTRICAL ISSUE CAUSING THE REFINERY TO FLARE APPROX. 28,000 LBS OF SULFUR DIOXIDE. THE REPORTING PERSON ADVISED THAT BOTH COMPRESSORS WERE BACK ON LINE AT 1609 HOURS.
