What The Youth Had To Say

Twelve youth worked on this project and this is what some of them had to say:


I really liked working on this project because it was near my house and I needed money. I also enjoyed working with all the other people involved. When the mural was completed it was one of my proudest moments. I felt that after the project was complete I had grown so much as a person. It was a very different and enjoyable experience. ?—Raymond Lofton

This neighborhood project was very fun. I think it was a good opportunity for me to keep out of trouble and make some extra money. This mural meant a lot to me because a friend of mine passed away this past August and I feel that this project was dedicated to him. I hope to do something similar to this in the near

The reason that I worked on this project was because the mural that was painted on El Rio Clinic after my brothers death was painted over. I thought it was pretty cool that some of the same people that worked on that mural also worked on this one. I think that this project will affect many people in many different ways and hopefully in good ones. There is so much violence today and I really think that projects like these help to restore faith in people. I hope to participate in many projects to come. ?—Erin Evangelist Nasewytewa

My friend?’s mural was painted over and I thought it was important to remember those teens that have lost their lives. The people of the barrio need to let everyone know that we have not forgotten these youth.
