The Gilbert Healthier Community Council is dedicated to developing and maintaining a Report Card that monitors the health of the Gilbert community. This Report Card does not judge the health of the community but merely reports vital statistics. Topics researched and reported were established as the outcome of a grassroots, collaborative process. This process was held in a town forum type setting on April 26, 1997 in Gilbert.
The Gilbert Healthier Community Council is supported by the work of "Priority Teams". Each Priority Team researches topics that were established at the first Gilbert Healthier Community Forum by collecting and reporting measurable indicators. The purpose is to defined measurable indicators of progress/performance that track the health of the Gilbert community. Eash Priority Team is appointed a "Chairperson". The Chairperson of each Priority Team serves as a facilitator and coordinator of information gathered by team members.
The product of the work initiatrf in 1997 was published and presented to the Gilbert community on May 13th, 1999. The report defines historical health trends and opportunities necessary to coutinually improve the health of the Gilbert community. While the initial commitment of Priority Team members is limited to gathering data over th period of several months, members are encouraged to be involved with the Gilbert Healthier Community Council beyond the report card presentation. The on-going work of the council will focus on facilitating collaborative efforts between the citizens of Gilbert, schools, business, community agencies and other organizations dedicated to the continual improvement of the health of Gilbert.
Gilbert Healthier Community Council meetings are held on the 3rd Thursday of the month from 5:30 to 7:30 in the Town of Gilbert conference room. For more information, please call Carl Landrum at (602) 231-1605
