GENERAL MEETING ?– OCTOBER 24, 2000

NEIGHBORS?’ CONCERNS, ISSUES AND POSSIBLE TOPICS FOR DISCUSSION AT MEETING:
Input from Beach Park residents from questionnaires, phone calls, meetings or Board meetings.
Number one concern, by far, at this time is SPEEDING AND TRAFFIC.

1. Can we get a 4-way STOP SIGN at the intersection of AZEELE AND MANHATTAN?
2. The bridge on NEPTUNE WAY needs to be painted or cleaned.
3. Traffic on CLEVELAND between Westshore and Hoover is a nightmare. Homeowners cannot back out of their own driveways without being honked at by speeding cars. Sometimes 15 cars speed by before the homeowner can back out on to Cleveland. Big trucks, semis, large dump trucks, etc use Cleveland to speed down to avoid Kennedy. What can be done?
4. Stormwater runoff.
5. Canal sedimentation and pollution.
6. Airplane noise over Spanish Main Drive.
7. Over-sized trucks in neighborhood are cracking drains, hitting cables, and ruining streets.
8. Jet fuel over South O?’Brien Street.
9. Unsightly Tribune racks, magazine racks.
10. TREE REMOVAL without proper permits.
11. Construction noise.
12. Destruction of lovely old homes.
13. Speeding cars on SOUTH TRASK STREET during rush hour ?– a.m. and p.m. Cars speed through TRASK from Azeele to Cleveland and Kennedy to avoid the lights at Kennedy, Azeele and Westshore.
14. Extremely high speed of cars on AZEELE.
15. Speeding cars on CLEVELAND.
16. Dog owners not obeying SCOOPER LAW.
17. Last November meeting ran way too long. Limit the amount of time that speakers are allowed to speak so that the neighborhood?’s concerns can be addressed.
18. Speeding on SWANN AVENUE. Request STOP SIGN at Swann and Lauber to slow traffic.
19. Cars drive way too fast on NEPTUNE between Westshore and Treasure. Request speed bumps, or 4-way Stop sign at Royal Poinciana and West Neptune.
20. CRIME ?– garage and car burglary. Police response was ?“this is normal?” in Beach Park.
21. People not picking up after their pets along Azeele.
22. AZEELE needs traffic control between Hesperides and Westshore ?– cars approach speeds of 50 mph to speed between stops.
23. Speeding on WESTSHORE BLVD. Need constant and continuous Police Patrol to have better effect. Can we have automatic speed monitoring on Westshore?
24. Make entire length of Westshore Blvd. 30-mph zone. If people adhered to 30 mph we could more easily navigate onto Westshore from our side streets, near Grove Park, etc.
25. Stormwater drainage issues, around docks.
26. Dogs not on leashes as required near Royal Poinciana.
27. SIDEWALK on Woodmere at 4405 ?– only house in area without a sidewalk.
28. We need a Grocery Store in our neighborhood.
29. More info on ?“firehouse cops?”.
30. Long-standing 30-year request for sidewalks on Beachway, near 4207.
31. One resident has requested that results of the general meetings be mailed to them due to not being able to attend the meetings on Tuesdays.
32. Request that future meetings not be held immediately prior to local elections to avoid any political conflicts.
33. Vagrant(s) living in a tent on Renellie behind vacant house.
34. Speeding on TRASK between Kennedy and Cleveland.
35. Illegal sign on South Lois ?– ?“clairvoyant?”.
36. Unsafe small corner on Bayside near station.
37. Planning Commission?’s approval of certain requests without input from neighbors and subsequent denial of neighbor?’s appeal.
38. Residents whose streets would be impacted by GREENWAYS AND PATHS object to the paths being created on their residential streets. Specifically, Shorecrest Circle, Swann Circle, Swann Avenue, Bayside, etc. BPHA Board opposes any paths be created in Beach Park.
39. Neighborhood watch ?– sign up to be a Block Captain at the October meeting.
40. Possible web-site for Beach Park Homeowners Association.
41. Car burglary on TRASK. Actual theft of vehicle on TRASK STREET.
42. Speeding on BEACHWAY Drive.
43. Speeding on BEACH PARK Drive.
44. MOTORCYCLE RACING down Westshore every Sat. night from 11:00 pm to 12:00 pm and also Friday nights.
45. Repeat VANDALISM on Beach Park Drive near Westshore ?– mail boxes bashed, PAINT BALLS shot at house and garage. Not reported.
46. Theft of garage door opener in order to return to home for repeat theft on Beach Park Drive. Not reported.
47. Ransacking of cars and garage in broad daylight, off Westshore and Beach Park.
48. Want to see more Police officers in our neighborhood.
49. Why isn?’t SWANN AVENUE slated to be a 25-mph residential street?
