You have made a very good point and I have to agree with you.  If you are not a dues paying member then you do not have a right to complain of what the HOA may or may not be doing.

The reason I asked the questions is because I am confused about the purpose of this website.  The title of it is "River Trails Homeowners Association".  I really don't understand non-members demanding answers of the elected officials of the HOA.  The officials work for the HOA and therefore, they would only need to answer to the members.  If you are not a member, then in my opinion these guys don't work for you and really have no obligation to answer to you.

I understand what ya'all are saying but I don't I agree.  The HOA should always hope to grow its member base.  Also,  this is a neighborhood that the HOA represents whether we are members or not.  This is not a mandatory HOA.  How you represent yourself is important and how you effectively enhance our neighborhood is also important.  If you ignore questions,  folks are not going to want to sign up and we need more support.  I think asking whether or not a homeowner is a HOA member is irrelevant..we hope they are or soon will be...but being a HOA member is not necessary to ask questions about our community to board members who were elected to be responsible for our community.  But thats just my opinion.   Laughing

Sorry for not answering very quickly this time, life gets in the way occasionally. Unlike some out there, I will answer the question. I would guess I'm not a member since I didn't pay my $25 this year. This is my choice as we are not a mandatory HOA area. I have my reasons for not just as you have your reasons for. One of them is the non-answers the community gets from the HOA.

If a question is asked by anyone interested enough in the neighborhood to ask, then I would hope that those who vow to represent this fine neighborhood in a positive manner would jump at the chance to clear the air. Far too often when a question is asked it's either silence or mis-information.

Decisions are being made by the few which do affect all. Case in point: The drilling. Not many people complained about the extra cash negotiated by the HOA, but the wall was big deal for some, pro and con. Here we are, still waiting for our $100,000 wall. Was there a time limitation in the contract to erect the wall? What are the consequences if there is a failure? Was the wall money taken from the kitty that all could have shared? We'll never know. But I do know it took several pages of questioning to get a phone number to get information. At one point the only thing that would be said is that you would have to contact one HOA member and he would ask  The Company your question concerning your personal contract. Finally, somebody, I think it was MM, gave the phone number.

The anti-strip club campaign, a good thing.

The HOA does some good for some of the people. Does anybody see the irony in having all of these noisy outdoor events in the exact same place that FWPD was writing citations for excessive noise? One father/son combo didn't even have to shut off their vehicle while the cop explained the violation. Funny.

So, the HOA does represent the community. As part of the community, I feel every one of us can, and should question what is being said about us homeowners. If somebody was to claim they represent the River Trails homeowners and they are being accused of acting irresponsibly, SOMEBODY should question it since it does reflect on River Trails. They may not "work" for me, but they do claim to represent the area I live in.

SO: JEERS TO THE ASSAULT FROM A RT HOMEOWNER

Why have you not taken MM up on her request: of anyone wanting an answer of said assault please stop by or flag her down. I know why because you are hiding behind your little computer and do not want her to now who you are. So stop by and ask if you are so concerned or is it you just like to stir the pot.
