Berm Repair. It's been a long time in coming. When you bought into the community you accepted the deed restrictions and all else that goes with this lovely place. We are now facing a large expense ahead with this berm repair between the pond and the lake. The berm will be a constant maintenance headache I feel and a reserve account should be put in place to save for the regular repair. More than likely we will be accessed a huge fee for the upcoming repair because this repair wasn't forseen in the past. It wasn't a mistake on anyone's part but something that we had to learn the hard way. I've only been here for about to be two years now and am seeing the bigger picture. Deed violations will be addressed in time I feel. It'll take some work to get them all taken care of I feel. We can work on those. With the economy as it is now, it's a wonder anyone can keep up with everything that needs to be done. Let's meet and discuss it.

Deed violations will be addressed in time? The deed restrictions are kind of a maintenance device to keep the community uniform and neat. If you put off maintenance on your car, it usually doesn't end well. The economy is affecting everyone I know, but my mortgage company doesn't tell me to skip next month nor does the bank holding the title on my car. It's tuff for some people but we still have commitments to meet. I heard the estimates at the meeting and it probably will amount to somewhere around 230.00 per home. I know your new to the board but they raised the fees because they say they had to because of issues like people not paying their fees. Fine. But much like a trip to the gas station-we are paying more and getting less. No Easter egg hunt. I don't have small children but I thought last years hunt was a great thing for the children of Bella Vista. They had a really good turn out. And it can't be that costly. Little things like this build good feelings through out the community. I also believe communication goes a long way. If someone would have communicated raising the fees, people would have known it was coming. You can give me the classic line-come to a meeting and find out but not everyone can make those meetings. I also find it insulting that board members have violations and do nothing about it when they should set the example. Kind of hypocritical don't you think? Why would a non board resident like me want to obey the bi-laws when others on the board don't? PRIDE in my home is the only reason. When at the meeting it was brought up to you, you were in violation with your sign in your front yard, and that person was quoting bi-laws, how come he told you in an earlier post on this very website-you could not run for the board? It clearly stated in the bi-laws you could! Does this make last years election contestable? Why didn't I bring this up at the meeting? My 3 minutes were already used up and that person was the last to speak. I believe that was done strategically. Have any of the people that told you "your not a homeowner-you can't run" apologized for that misinformation? I've spoke with people since the election and have heard that I'm being explained away as a disgruntled homeowner causing problems on Montilla Loop. People probably assumed-since you were elected it would shut me up. Guess again!!Cool

Rich, I appreciate your posts here. You bring up a lot of valid points. Why people do the things they do could be a lot of different reasons. I try not to dwell on people's mistakes, I make a lot of them myself. I do appreciate that someone will correct me at the moment when I'm about to make a mistake or have made a mistake. This keeps me in check. I've realized a long time ago that people will remember the bad and not the good about people. It helps one's ego. I myself don't rely on my ego for anything. I'm not even sure what it's for.

Yes, I'm new on this board and I'm listening and learning. I hope over time things will get better. Time is not on anyone's side though. I wish things could move faster than they do but I have to remember to be patient with everything.

Let me ask you this one question. Would you like to see the board use more of it's legal clout in order to try and enforce the deed restrictions? Remember that legal fees will begin to rack up and cost us more each year in order to do this. Some of us are okay with raising fees for enforcement, are you? There are a lot of people who bought into the market at the worst time and now they are having a difficult time living within their means. With some of these people they will never live up to the deed restrictions let alone keep up with the fees. I believe this happens in all communities. Never will there be a perfect community and people living in it. I know you know all of this but I'm just bringing it out in the light now to keep in mind as I have to remind myself at times in order to not get too upset with things.

A woman's husband died yesterday because of cancer. Now she is having to put their house on the market as her income alone cannot make the payments.

I'm looking forward to working with the board and getting things taken care of. I'm also looking for help from you and anyone else that would like to get together and help make our community a better place to live. Want to have a meeting at my place, invite Miko and hubby along with Christine? Who else?
