Some of the replys I find humerous, some are just plain rude. I can completely relate to your dilema. For some they have an aversion to snakes, for some it is dogs, for others it is rodents. Please forgive some people for not understanding the level of fear and disgust you may have. We do live in a rural area surrounded by fields so there is the likelihood of wildlife appearing in our neighborhood, ie: snakes, mice, rats, hawks, owls, scorpions, spiders and other things you can't even identify. The rats being here have nothing to do with cleanliness, they are nomads and will move to wheverever necessary for survival and with all the new developments going in around us they are trying to find food and shelter. Now, I live on Lariat Trail and our house was the first in this edition so we were surrounded by fields about 7 years ago so we have seen hundreds of mice but this is the first time I have seen a rat and I agree that these creatures are disgusting. Matter of fact can't stand them or mice or snakes. And these are truly RATS not mice, I know this because my dog has killed 3 and my husband killed 1; I know dog - 3, man -1; but dead is dead in my book. Mice traps do not work nor does poison, but go to Walmart or Westlake and buy some RAT traps (they are huge) get a little cheese and smother it in peanut butter and set the trap, I guarantee it will work. Be careful though. Oh, and I would buy more than one because when it goes off it can't be reused. If all else fails I will lend you my dog, she can hunt them out in minutes.
