KPD Encourages Groups to Participate in National Night Out
The Knoxville Police Department’s Education Unit is encouraging neighborhood groups to participate in the 28th Annual National Night Out on Tuesday, August 2, 2011, from 6:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m.
National Night Out gives neighbors and the police an opportunity to come together, get to know one another, and make their neighborhood a safer place to live.

Community events on National Night Out provide an opportunity for neighbors to meet one another, increase interaction and communication among citizens and the police, encourage citizens to become involved in fighting crime, and allow citizens to recognize and celebrate the successes they have achieved through cooperative efforts.

If your group is planning a NNO event (a block party or cook-out, for example), and if you would like to have a police officer stop by and visit, contact the Safety Education Unit at 215-1325 or Officer Michele Goldsberry at 215-1348 or by e-mail at mgoldsberry@cityofknoxville.org. Please be prepared to provide the name of the group, address, time and event type (cook-out, picnic, etc.).
