From Nick D ~
We have an opening to fill. Several months ago Lauren Rider was appointed
to fill a spot on the NAC vacated by Charlotte Davis. Alice Bell's Gene
Mathis held our other 4th district post.
Gene is now stepping down due to an overly-ambitious schedule for his time.
We are all grateful to Gene for the generous gift of time and community
experience to the Neighborhood Advisory Council.
Please survey your community group members and get suggested nominations to
me. DETAILS BELOW in Dave Massey's note to me. Please respond to me by the
end of next week if possible

At the NAC meeting yesterday, Gene Mathis (Alice Bell Spring Hilll)
announced that he is resigning from seat 4-B effective at the end of March.
His other volunteer work and church responsibilities have grown to such an
extent that he is having to cut back on neighborhood activities. We will
miss him as he has been an excellent and dedicated member of the NAC.
The person appointed to take Gene's place will be fulfilling the remainder
of his term, which expires March 31, 2012. That person would serve for one
year, starting in April, and then would then be eligible to be appointed to
a full 3-year term before having to cycle off.
The process for filling the vacancy includes asking the appropriate member
of City Council, members of the NAC, and all neighborhoods for suggestions
on candidates to fill the vacancy. The candidates can fill out an
application form located here:

ication.pdf
The Mayor makes the appointments. The full process is outlined here:

If you have one or more persons in mind, please let them know about the
opportunity and suggest they talk to me, visit the Office of Neighborhoods
Website, attend the February meeting o f the NAC, and then submit the
application. The next NAC meeting is 4:30 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 9, at the
CAC/LT Ross building on Western Avenue.
I will be announcing at least two upcoming vacancies in the next newsletter
* the other one is in District 1 * and the deadline for applications will
be Feb. 20.
