Letter From The President

We, the board of directors, are residents in this neighborhood just like you, and like you we only want the best for our neighborhood. We look forward to working with you on various projects and welcome your input on any improvements you would like to see in our subdivision. We also ask that you help us to protect your property values by adhering to the covenants and restrictions of this subdivision. It is certainly better for all of us if this board can place its efforts 100% on maintaining and improving The Links and not have to deal with the policing of our neighbors. That said, in a recent newsletter I reminded everyone of the covenant restrictions in regards to parking on vacant lots. Though, the problem has subsided some, it has not been resolved. I have noticed some people are using certain vacant lots as a second driveway. It's one thing to park there once in a great while because you're having a party at your home, but I have noticed the same cars routinely parked on the vacant lots while the driveway is empty. Where is the respect for other people's property? Whether or not you know or like the property owner should not matter. Please refrain from parking on (or driving through) the following vacant lots: 116 Oakmont Drive, 148 Oakmont Drive, 134 Portrush Drive, and 109 Haig Point. Note, I'm not looking to make a mountain out of a molehill. So please, end this now.

Have you checked out our website www.neighborhoodlink.com/laplace/btlhoa? We will use this site as a tool to help us communicate with the entire neighborhood. Currently, we are looking for input from all residents concerning improvements to the park. In the recent past we have spent a lot of time and effort in maintaining our lakes. Though the lakes will always require our attention, we will be directing greater efforts on improving the park. Please utilize our new website and post a reply to the "Park Improvements" message in the "Talk About It" section. You can also relay your ideas to us via mail, email, or phone. Our contact information is listed on the website under Belle Terre Links HOA Contacts. You are also welcome to attend any of our regular board meetings. We meet periodically at one of our homes and will post the dates annd location of any upcoming meetings on the Community Calendar.

With regards to the lake, we are experiencing problems with some of the aerators and are currently in the process of locating a company to service them. We hope to have them up and running in the near future. We are also experiencing a serious erosion problem near the drainage culverts on Oakmont & Glenlakes. Since these culverts are a part of the parish drainage system, I have had conversations with Mr. Virgil Rayneri, Public Works Director for St. John the Baptist Parish. He has agreed to correct the problem with some fill to replace what has eroded and the placement of stones to prevent future erosion. He has given me a time table of approximately two months before this work can begin.

On behalf of the board, I thank you for the confidence you have placed in us and rest assured we will do our very best to maintain your confidence. Let's all work together to make The Links a community we can all be proud of.
