Now that U of L had all of the trees cut down, every train that comes down the tracks awakens me all night long.  I have not had a full night's sleep in two weeks.  I am not comfortable being the only one to say that.  Hence, I am sitting here angry with government .................... very angry!

Same ole same ole, "Quality of Life Be Damned!" as long as corporate America gets to continue its greedy run destroying our environment, getting richer off disasters (i. e.; gas price spikes BEFORE Ike hit), sending jobs overseas, and bankrupting our economy with excessive ARM (Adjustable Rate Mortgages) that the lenders knew would default. Now we are left to deal with cleaning up (and paying for) the mess.

U of L is a tax-supported institution!  It is supposed to be in tune with the will of the people; no, not in tune; subjugated to the will of the people.  Whatever happened to the concept of "consent of the governed" that the Pilgrims at Plymouth wrote into the Mayflower Compact, that Thomas Jefferson wrote into the second paragraph of our so-called Declaration of Independence, that Congress and the people wrote into the due process and equal protection clauses of the Fourteenth Amendment, ...........................???????????????

Too much government and way too much dependence on government and not enough taking care of business ourselves has pushed us to the brink of disaster.  Our Federal road fund is broke; our Federal governement in Washington is dysfuntional; our young people are killing each other; Congress has not passed a piece of meaningful legislation in decades; our state government remains embroiled in petty partisan politics; we can not get a bridge painted in a reasonable amount of time; we can not avert a massive terrorist strike; we can not replacerepair/build essentials like failing bridges, levies, intersates, sewers, water lines, schools, ...... but we can spend money to build an office park; .................................................. ?????????????????????

P.S.I should have also thrown in,"we can't make our streets safe from selfish, speeding drivers."
