In the May Mayor's message I included the Proposed City Budget for 2009-2010 and noted that we will spend $13,700 more than we receive in revenue.
We will need to take that money from our reserve funds which will reduce the amount of income those funds produce. That income from reserve funds helps keep our city taxes low. While we have the lowest tax rate around I want to keep it that way as long as possible.
We are NOT raising the tax rate this year.
We have examined our espenses and trimed as much as possible. There is a lot more that we would like to do but it all cost money.
Discussion is desirable here and at the June Commission meeting when we will have the second reading of the budget and vote on it.
