I received the following message from a citizen:

Hello! My name is Lynda Shirota & I live on N Chadwick. First of all, I want to say that our landscaping at the entrance to the neighborhood is just beautiful. I'm pleased that we have fresh mulch for the holidays, also. I am writing to ask if there are  any improvements  planned for our mail boxes? They are just the worst ever!!

When we first moved to our beautiful neighborhood, all the boxes were located on one side of the street, which eliminated the cluttered look. This seems to be a problem on Chadwick, in particular. Equally as distressing is the fact that most of the boxes are in horrible condition.

It is my opinion that it would GREATLY enhance our neighborhood if all our mail boxes were identical in appearance. A suggestion would be black boxes and posts. I have been selling real estate for over 30 years & have learned that uniform mail boxes & a nice signature entrance are critical to being a first class neighborhood.

Replacing damaged mail boxes bring our property values to where they should be.

Thanks so much for your time. Sincerely, Lynda Shirota

I live on North Chadwick Road also and my mailbox is one of the first ones that was moved to the same side of the street that my house is on per a federal law allowing it.  I see no reason that I should have to cross the street dodging spe eders just because someone complained about the mailboxes.  I actually think they look better the way they are.  When they were all on one side of the sreet along with the Courier-Journal boxes in a bunch, I thought it looked like a trailer park.

And as far as idetrical boxes .... you gotta be kidding me.  This is a country created by independent individualism, not by lock-step, non-creative whatever.  I simply don't like black mailboxes and those flimsy little posts or those mailboxes in a brick house.  And ... I don't like suggestions that will cause me to spend more mone!  We are in a recession; Most assuredly, noone needs any additional expense now and we certainly don't need more government legislation that will just simply join the already long list of non-enforceable laws.

The commission will not force identical mail boxes on Chadwick.
