Did you post this twice or did your car get broken into twice? It would be helpful if you gave us more retails especially about what street you live on.

Didn't the first notice about the gray van originate from the same street as this notice about the 1:00 am intruder?
Is it possible that there is a connection, good or bad, here?

Yes, both postings were originated by me, along with the posting about the coyote and yes, all occurrences were on the same street. Fortunately (or unfortunately), I am outside at various times of the morning, afternoon and night with my pet as well as with my children getting them to the bus stop. It is interesting what strange things can be seen and heard if one pays attention. My opinion is that items out of the ordinary should be posted to make neighbors aware of happenings with the hopes of making our neighborhood a safer place for all. I'm not an official participant of the Block Watch, but do make it my business to be aware of my surroundings for safety purposes. Our neighborhood as a whole could probably improve as far as communication to include those that do not have access to a computer, but the formation of the block watch is still relatively new and hasn't reached its full potential.
I appreciate all of the residents that participate in reading the website and posting in a constructive manner.

Your comments in this post and the one in the "breakin" item are well taken and extremely important. Thank you.
You are on the money about block watch not reaching its potential and that it MUST include more than online notifications because, as you pointed out, not everyone has a computer or uses it 24/7 even if they have one. Setting up a plan including online, telephone, and word of mouth TIMELY alerts will make it work.
Further, you are right that strange-appearing events should be posted and even reported to the police. In fact, I and two other residents did circulate an alert among block watch captains not long ago about a suspicious white truck in the same area of this latest crime.. As our economy continues to worsen, the potential for more and more stealing will increase.
Thank you for your comment under the "break-in" post. Alerts should offer as much detail as is possible about any out-of-the-ordinary occurrence, but absolutely NO DETAIL whatsoever about the status of any property or property owner. We want to make the criminal vulnerable, not the resident.
Block watch can improve if residents like you QUICKLY alert their block captain about suspicious events in addition to calling 911. Again thanks for your comments/
